Why use Cryptomator

✅ Cryptomator makes it easy to improve security without major changes to the existing cloud storage and syncing providers used by a business. With the contents of your cloud storage encrypted with a key you control, exfiltrating (glossary) files from Google Drive (and similar) will yield nothing useful.

✅ Cryptomator makes it possible to use highly-available commercial cloud storage providers, regardless of their country of origin. All countries don't have data protection laws equivalent to the GDPR. When using cloud storage in those countries, regulations can be satisfied by using Cryptomator (Source: 3).

Is Cryptomator the best encryption for Google Drive users? We don't like absolutes. These are good reasons to choose Cryptomator over, for example Boxcryptor, and that's why we use it.
Update: Cryptomator competitor Boxcryptor has been acquired by Dropbox.
